At our Papanui cutting bar a clipper cut is $20, a men's scissor style cut is $30, a ladies' style cut is $43 and kids under 16 are $25. Those are real prices from our board, not a from-price with an asterisk. Here is the full picture and what actually changes the number.
What makes a cut cost more
Three things move the price on any board in town: time, tools and extras.
- Clippers vs scissors. An all-over clipper cut is the fastest job in the shop, which is why it is the cheapest. Scissor work takes longer, so a style cut costs more.
- Fades. A good fade is precision work with more blending time, which is why ours is $38 rather than $20.
- Extras. A wash is $15, a beard trim is $15, a ladies' blow dry is $35. Colour depends on what you want: BYO colour is $60, ten foils are $65 and extra foils are $8 each.
Discounts that actually exist
SuperGold card holders pay $24 for a men's cut and $35 for a ladies' cut here. Kids under 16 are always $25.
Why we publish every price
Nobody likes finding out the price after the cape goes on. Our whole list is painted on the shop window and printed on this site, so you can check the number before you walk in. And you can just walk in: no bookings, six days a week, at 466A Papanui Road.
